Get involved.

Everyone needs to start somewhere. Why not start by building your own miniature race car?

Students in teams of up to five, base their design around a standard RC electronics kit provided by the organisers. All components must either be 3D printed, laser-cut MDF sheet, or standard fasteners. No other materials or parts are permitted.

You will be taught how to use SolidWorks as a design tool. You will manufacture your car using 3D printers and laser cutters.

Formula Student RC competitions are a scaled-down version of a full-size Formula Student competition, following a similar event and scoring structure.

There are two FS-RC competitions each year, allowing you to develop your car and learn from your experiences. The total points from each of the competitions are added up to determine the winner.

  • University students

    Sign up to UCM and join the discord channel, we can assign you into a team. CAD tutorials will be starting in Term 2

  • High school students

    High schools will run their own competition to put forward their top teams. We encourage schools to promote the event to their students and group students into teams of 2-5 people. After teams have been decided, fill out a signup form for each group who is interested.
